"This circuit has become a joke," Shapovalov slams Wimbledon tournament

This circuit has become a joke, Shapovalov slams Wimbledon tournament

Since his semifinal in Acapulco, Shapovalov has struggled in the tournaments he has played, failing to advance past the third round. Eliminated in his opening match at Wimbledon by Navone (91st), the Canadian has lost 9 of his last 12 matches.

In an interview shared by Tennis World Italia, the player vented his frustration, sharply criticizing the changes made by the tour in recent years:

"The balls are the worst. This circuit has become a joke. It’s slower than a clay court. This isn’t even grass anymore."

Shapovalov’s comments echo those made by Kyrgios in 2021, as well as Petra Kvitova, who questioned the modifications made to the surfaces.

Shapo is right about the court and balls, but he needs to restructure his game. Watching him from the sidelines, he doesn't come across as being businesslike. He also needs to deal with the psychology side of his game. He over jubilates on minor points making him down hearted over big point losses. Beat Nadal at 17 and see what is happening. He should go back and watch those old solid games of hi.
