The emotion behind the record sale of a piece of British tennis history: the racket used by Andy Murray to break 77 years of waiting at Wimbledon has found a buyer... for a breathtaking amount.

A page of British tennis history has just changed hands. According to ESPN, one of the rackets used by Andy Murray during his historic triumph at Wimbledon in 2013 was sold for the staggering sum of 73,200 dollars. A cult object, full of symbols, which evokes much more than just a title: the end of 77 years of drought for British men's tennis at Wimbledon.

This famous racket, now in the hands of a private collector, was used by Murray when he dominated Novak Djokovic in the final, in straight sets (6-4, 7-5, 6-4), inscribing his name in the pantheon of tennis. On July 7, 2013, Centre Court exploded with joy, tears flowed, and an entire nation rose for its hero.

Although the amount obtained is impressive, it remains below the absolute record held by a racket of Rafael Nadal, used during his victory at Roland-Garros in 2017, and sold for 157,000 dollars.

Murray, who later confirmed his legend by winning a second Wimbledon in 2016 (against Milos Raonic) and the 2012 US Open (again against Djokovic), has always had a very emotional relationship with his performances. And every object, every moment, carries a part of that intensity.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...

FYI- Ive never bought a single item from any of them after years of using your app, a goal that started as short term but has developed into long term.
