Gabriel Debru was in the spotlight in 2022 when he won the junior Roland-Garros title at the age of 16.
Last March, he reached his career-high ranking of 233rd in the world. However, a left wrist injury has kept him off the court since February. He made the decision to undergo surgery at the end of May. While awaiting his return to the courts, the young Frenchman has made a major decision for the next phase of his career.
He will soon move to the United States to compete in the college circuit. Debru will represent the University of Illinois, which announced the news on its social media platforms.
This marks a new chapter for the Grenoble native, who last year won the Challenger tournaments in Troyes and Como.
