Tomic praises Nadal: "We can all learn from Rafa and all these great champions"
Bernard Tomic, once a great hope for Australian tennis, never fully lived up to the expectations at the start of his career.
Ranked 17th in the world in January 2016, the 32-year-old player, now beyond the top 200, gave an interview to Sports Keeda in which he talks about Rafael Nadal.
The Spanish legend, who won 92 titles including 22 Grand Slams and 14 in the same tournament at Roland-Garros, retired after the Final 8 of the Davis Cup in Malaga last November. This was an opportunity for the Stuttgart native to talk about the Majorcan.
"There will never be other players like Rafael Nadal again. What he has done in our sport is extraordinary. I think no one will win Roland-Garros as many times in the next 100 or 200 years, and he is an incredible person.
We managed to play doubles together once. We can all learn from Rafa and all these great champions of our sport.
But he was a very humble person, not just as a player, he was also a wonderful person off the court.
I wish him all the best for the next chapter of his life, and he can be proud of all the success he has achieved.
I mean, he was probably, physically, one of the best, but, you know, as you get older, it gets harder," Tomic said.
