Too strong for Fonseca, Draper advances to the third round of Indian Wells
End of the road in California for Joao Fonseca, defeated in two sets by Jack Draper this Saturday (6-4, 6-0).
Draper, ranked 14th in the world, faced Fonseca in his first match of the tournament. While the Brazilian has been riding a positive wave for several weeks and continues to impress, he couldn't hold his ground against his opponent today.
The first set was indeed tight, with both players showcasing excellent tennis, but the contest ended there. By taking control of the match, Draper dealt a blow to Fonseca's morale, who never recovered from losing the first set.
This was followed by a 6-0 in the second set in favor of the Brit, who qualified for the third round where he will face Jenson Brooksby, who caused the first upset of the day by eliminating Félix Auger-Aliassime (6-4, 6-2).
