Tsitsipas announces his intentions: "I want the trophy in Barcelona"

After his quarter-final defeat in Monte-Carlo against Musetti (1-6, 6-3, 6-4), Tsitsipas is now ranked 19th in the ATP. Currently in Barcelona, the 26-year-old player will have to defend the 300 points from his final last year. A challenging task for the Greek, who is having a difficult season so far.
Approaching his first round against Opelka, he spoke at a press conference about a tournament he knows very well, having been a finalist four times (2018, 2021, 2023, 2024):
"Every year, it's tough and I don't think reaching any of those finals was easy. It's an ATP 500, there are very good players.
I want the trophy, I hope I can show a great version of my tennis and achieve something big, but I want to move forward day by day.
I feel very connected to this place and my favorite moments are tournaments like this one or Monte-Carlo, for example."
Tsitsipas also addressed rumors of a possible collaboration with Goran Ivanisevic, former coach of Djokovic (2019-2024):
"I will make an official announcement soon, but I can't say anything yet."
