Tsitsipas frustrated after his quarter-final exit in Monte-Carlo: "It's hard to accept such a performance"
A three-time champion in Monte-Carlo and the defending titleholder, Stefanos Tsitsipas saw his dream of winning the tournament for a fourth time come to an end this Friday, defeated in the quarter-finals by Lorenzo Musetti.
The Greek, who will drop to 16th in the ATP rankings on Monday, expressed his disappointment in the press conference:
"It's hard to accept such a performance, it's really not normal. To feel so confident on this court and lose a match I had every reason to win—it’s really heartbreaking.
My serve didn’t help me when I needed it. I couldn’t build rallies around my serve. [...]
Musetti has a fantastic game on clay. But I could have done much more today. I missed forehands that I never miss. I was quite surprised to see those forehands go wide or into the net. I’m not used to that, especially on clay."
When asked about Goran Ivanisevic joining his team after Roland-Garros, Tsitsipas dodged the question: "I’m not in a position to answer that yet."
