Tsitsipas innocent? His lawyer clarifies in the license suspension case
When the cameras of Attiki Odos filmed a Lotus speeding at over 210 km/h, no one expected to see the name Stefanos Tsitsipas linked to this record-breaking offense.
A digital fine of €2,000, a license suspended for one year: the penalties fall, heavy and immediate. But one essential element was missing from the equation.
Thanasis Papathanasiou, the player's lawyer, revealed this:
"Regarding the incident made public, the car was driven by a third party. The issue of the fine and the return of the license has been resolved."
Important elements in a case that comes at the worst possible time for the 27-year-old player. Struggling greatly this season, he has fallen out of the top 30, a brutal symbol of decline for a player accustomed to the Top 10.
