Tsitsipas on his father: "A way to save our relationship".
At the beginning of August, having just been knocked out by Kei Nishikori in Montreal (6-4, 6-4), Stefanos Tsitsipas decided to part company with his lifelong coach, his father.
In comments relayed by Tennis365, the Greek explained: "My father has probably been the heart of my whole life, not only in tennis, but also in my everyday life.
He's obviously one of the main people responsible for my success so far, but I also need to explore my own limits, have my own story and embark on a different journey to keep learning.
It's been very difficult for both of us to have a natural father-son relationship during all these years of tournaments.
It's also one of the main reasons why I decided to part company with him as a coach.
Ultimately, it can also be understood as a way of saving our relationship."
