Tsitsipas overcomes Khachanov to advance to the quarterfinals in Dubai
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Karen Khachanov in the second round of the ATP 500 in Dubai after a hard-fought match played over three sets (7-6, 2-6, 6-4).
After winning a tight first set in a tiebreak, the Greek player conceded the second set, quickly falling behind with a double break. It was ultimately at 5-4 in the deciding set that he managed to convert his first break point of the match to secure the victory.
This important win for Tsitsipas moves him into the quarterfinals of the tournament, where he will play Matteo Berrettini, who won against Christopher O’Connell (7-6, 6-2).
He also confirms his dominance over Khachanov, now holding a record of 9 wins to 1 against the Russian.
