Two French Players in the Top 100 on the Same Day, Only the 4th Time Since the ATP Rankings Began

Thanks to their recent performances on the circuit, Valentin Royer and Terence Atmane entered the ATP Top 100 on Monday, August 18, 2025. This situation had not occurred since July 9, 2007, when Édouard Roger-Vasselin and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga made their joint entry.
Before that, you had to go back to November 3, 2003, with the results of Thierry Ascione and Nicolas Mahut, or even September 9, 1991, with the achievements of Arnaud Boetsch and Frédéric Fontang, to see two French players enter the elite of world tennis (Top 100) on the same day.
While Jeu, Set et Maths revealed this statistic, the X account also noted in its post that six French players had appeared in the Top 100 simultaneously when the ATP rankings were first created (August 23, 1973).
At that time, the ranking included 186 players, with Ilie Nastase as the first world No. 1 in its history.
