US Open Orders Broadcasters to Censor Audience Reactions to Trump's Presence at the Final
Invited by the luxury Swiss watchmaker, Rolex, Donald Trump will be present to attend the US Open men's final between Alcaraz and Sinner. This appearance will be the first for the former U.S. president since 2015.
While this announcement has already caused a stir in the tennis world, the organization has decided to put a very specific plan in place before the 79-year-old's arrival. Indeed, according to Bounces, an internal email was sent to all tournament broadcasters asking them to censor any potential protest or other reaction to the president's presence.
"Regarding television coverage, we ask all broadcasters to refrain from showing disruptions or reactions in response to the president's presence in any capacity. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation."
For reference, the billionaire was loudly booed during his visit 10 years ago.
