Video - Jarry's winning half-volley on set point in Rio
The match of the day in Rio de Janeiro pitted Nicolas Jarry against Francisco Comesaña.
After more than 3 hours 10 minutes of play, the two men put on a thrilling spectacle on the Gustavo Kuerten court, and played three tie-breaks, with the Argentine finally emerging victorious (7-6, 6-7, 7-6).
In the second set tie-break, the Chilean came back to level with his opponent after a one-sided tie-break (7 points to 1).
On the point that officially brought him back into contention and clinched a decisive third set, Jarry produced a beautiful half-volley winner after following up his attack at the net and forcing the Argentine into a passing shot (see video below).
Jarry's shot was not enough to take him through to the quarter-finals, however, and Comesaña has now qualified. The latter will face number 1 seed Alexander Zverev for a place in the semi-finals of this ATP 500 tournament in Rio.
