Video - Medvedev loses his cool during altercation with chair umpire
During the match between Daniil Medvedev and Benjamin Bonzi in the first round of the US Open, a game incident occurred.
As Benjamin Bonzi was about to play a second serve on a match point, a photographer entered the court.
For this reason, the chair umpire, Greg Allensworth, decided to award the Frenchman two serves. A decision that greatly displeased Medvedev.
The Russian went to see the umpire to complain: "Are you a man? Why are you shaking? What's wrong?"
He then addressed the camera about the umpire: "Guys, he wants to leave. He doesn't like being here. He's paid per match, not per hour. What did Reilly Opelka say?"
Medvedev was referring to Opelka's comments about this same umpire, Allensworth, stating that he was the worst umpire on the tour.
