The final of the 2017 ATP 500 in Beijing pitted Nick Kyrgios against Rafael Nadal. At that time, Rafa was world number 1 while Kyrgios was coming off a great semifinal victory against Alexander Zverev and motivated by the prospect of facing his great Spanish rival.

Nadal took to the court seeking revenge since Kyrgios had just beaten him a few weeks earlier in Cincinnati.

But during this final, the Australian was merely an illusion as Nadal completely dominated the match. The Spaniard won in 1 hour and 32 minutes with a score of 6-2, 6-1, claiming his 75th career title that day.

In Asia, Nadal followed up with a lost final in Shanghai against Roger Federer, before withdrawing from the Paris Masters 1000 quarterfinals and then pulling out of the ATP Finals after losing his first group match to David Goffin.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
