Videos - Shapovalov really struggled to control Mpetshi Perricard's serves!
This Friday, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard got the better of a good Denis Shapovalov in the Basel quarter-finals (6-7, 6-3, 7-6).
Particularly hampered on his return of serve, the Canadian never really managed to threaten the Frenchman when he was serving.
A rather amusing sequence from the match illustrates this perfectly.
The Canadian missed one of his returns of serve, sending the ball straight into the face of referee Mohamed Lahyani (see video below).
A sequence that inevitably brought to mind a far less amusing one in Shapovalov's career.
A few years ago, while playing in the decisive match of a Davis Cup tie, he angrily hit a ball that went straight into the umpire's face.
The moment cost him the match.
Fortunately, there were only smiles this time!
