Jannik Sinner has had an exceptional year. He didn't let up at the end of the season when it came to representing his country in the Davis Cup finals.

Thanks to his performances, he made a major contribution to Italy's success in winning the team tournament for the second time in succession.

His captain, Filippo Volandri, spoke of the world number 1's role in the Squadra Azzurra's triumph.

"He raised the level of his tennis in decisive moments, as he almost always does. That's his great quality, the hallmark of a champion.

The match against Tallon Griekspoor in the final shows how, even if he wasn't as brilliant as at other times of the year, he still managed to accelerate at the right moment despite fatigue.
