Vondrousova Returns to Training Ahead of Rome Tournament
Often plagued by injuries since the start of her career, Marketa Vondrousova is very close to making her competitive comeback. Absent since February 19 after her second-round defeat at the WTA 1000 in Dubai against Mirra Andreeva, the Czech player, ranked 63rd in the world, suffered a shoulder injury. The Wimbledon champion from two years ago announced in early March that she would miss several weeks of competition.
In recent hours, Vondrousova has been spotted training in the Italian capital just days before the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome, as she herself shared via an Instagram story. The 25-year-old left-hander reached one quarterfinal this season in Abu Dhabi, where she lost to Belinda Bencic. Her return to the tour is now imminent.
