Wawrinka Frustrated After Early Exit in Monte-Carlo: "I Should Have Been More Aggressive at Key Moments"

Stan Wawrinka has already bid farewell to the Monte-Carlo Masters, defeated in his opening match by Alejandro Tabilo after a hard-fought battle (1-6, 7-5, 7-5).
In the post-match press conference, the Swiss player, who celebrated his 40th birthday two weeks ago, did not hide his disappointment after the loss:
"It’s a tough defeat, very frustrating, but the level is there. I’m missing a few things to close out these matches.
The frustration grows because you’re getting closer to the end, and you know you’ll have fewer opportunities to go deep in tournaments if you lose. So it’s even more frustrating.
As always in tennis, it comes down to a point here, a point there. Maybe I was a bit too relaxed in certain moments, and I should have been more aggressive at key times. I also made mistakes in crucial moments, and that made the difference."
The Swiss player also spoke about his passion that keeps him going on the tour: "I want to make the most of it. I love playing tennis. I’ve been lucky enough to play the biggest tournaments in the world.
I want to keep pushing a little further. I love training, playing these kinds of tournaments and matches. That’s what motivates me to keep going."
