Wawrinka: "Why should I stop?"

Le 25/10/2024 à 14h22 par Elio Valotto
Wawrinka: Why should I stop?

Stan Wawrinka makes a reassuring end to the 2024 season.

Having hardly won a match all season, the Swiss has just followed up a semi-final in Stockholm with a fine Round of 16 on home soil in Basel.

Still as passionate as ever at 39, 'Stan the man' was once again asked about his future.

And, to say the least, he was very clear: "I don't feel tired.

I'm playing very good tennis again, with an average level that allows me to be competitive, to have opportunities against very good players.

The aim is to get closer to the Top 100 by the end of the year.

I want to move up the rankings so that next year I can play in the tournaments I enjoy.

I'm not talking about getting back into the Top Ten, but about winning good matches.

Why should I stop if I feel good? I have a great life on the circuit.

Playing here in Basel is a huge opportunity.

But of course, if I don't win a match for ten months, you may not see me again at the Swiss Indoors next year."
