We need to expand his technical repertoire," says Panichi, Rune's new fitness coach
Since Cincinnati, Marco Panichi has become the new fitness coach for Holger Rune, the world No. 9.
Panichi has previously worked with big names in tennis, including Novak Djokovic for seven years, followed by Jannik Sinner from September 2024 until Wimbledon this season.
In an interview with the Italian outlet Undici, Panichi discussed Rune's areas for improvement, having just begun their collaboration:
"He’s a very instinctive player. We need to make him more consistent and more aware of many things. He has tremendous potential. Until now, he has played a very instinctive brand of tennis and has already done excellent work. Now, we must look to support him by developing a game that goes beyond instinct and expanding his technical repertoire."
The 61-year-old fitness coach also addressed the decision not to work with Ulises Badio (physiotherapist), who had previously been part of Djokovic’s and later Sinner’s teams:
"Holger already has an excellent physio in his team, with whom he gets along very well. He had no intention of changing that. The situation didn’t allow me to work with Badio.
