Why disrespect the history of tennis?" Becker annoyed by statistic published about Alcaraz
Boris Becker regularly comments on tennis news via his X account (formerly Twitter), such as Carlos Alcaraz’s second title won yesterday at Queen’s.
The six-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1 vented his frustration over a post by community manager Bastien Fachan, who highlighted a specific statistic: Alcaraz became the third player in the 21st century to win multiple titles at both Wimbledon and Queen’s or Halle.
"Why always limit it to this century and disrespect tennis history?" Becker fired back.
Following the German champion’s reaction, the original post was later corrected by its author:
"Hey Boris, it’s just because the data is more easily trackable. I promise I have great respect for tennis history and what you’ve achieved.
In that case, in the 20th century: Jimmy Connors (Wimbledon x2, Queen’s x3), John McEnroe (Wimbledon x3, Queen's x4), Boris Becker (Wimbledon x3, Queen's x4), Pete Sampras (Wimbledon x7, Queen's x2).
