Williams, Seles, Mboko: They Managed to Reach the Semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Canada Before Turning 19

At just 18 years old, Mboko is living a dream run at this WTA 1000 in Montreal. After defeating Bouzkova (1-6, 6-3, 6-0), Gauff (6-1, 6-4), and now Bouzas Maneiro (6-4, 6-2), she has secured her spot in the tournament's semifinals—an incredible achievement.

While her performance is outstanding, it’s even more remarkable given her young age. Indeed, the Canadian joins the prestigious list of players who have reached the semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Canada before turning 19. The players on this list include Capriati, Seles, Hingis, Williams (Serena), Ivanovic, and Bencic.

Facing Rybakina, she will now aim to secure a spot in the final—at home, in front of her fans. To put her season into perspective, she has been nothing short of exceptional, winning no fewer than 54 matches. In the WTA rankings, she now sits at 48th.
