In this tournament opener filled with surprises, French players have been delivering strong performances since the start of the fortnight. In total, nine of them (seven in the men's draw and two in the women's draw) have secured their spots in the second round at Wimbledon.

On the London grass, Diane Parry and Elsa Jacquemot are still in contention. The Nice native defeated Petra Martic (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) and will face Diana Shnaider for a place in the round of 32. Meanwhile, the Lyon native, who reached the third round at Roland-Garros, continues to impress on the London grass.

Ranked 113th in the world and coming through qualifying like Parry, Jacquemot delivered a strong performance to overcome Magda Linette (6-7, 6-1, 6-4). A tough clash against Belinda Bencic awaits her in the second round. On the men's side, seven players will take to the courts in an attempt to reach the third round.

Corentin Moutet (facing Grigor Dimitrov), Gaël Monfils (up against Marton Fucsovics), Arthur Cazaux (who will challenge Alex De Minaur), Benjamin Bonzi (versus Jordan Thompson), and Arthur Rinderknech (set to battle Cristian Garin)—all of whom have already posted impressive performances—will aim to go further.

However, one French player is already guaranteed a spot in the third round, as Valentin Royer and Adrian Mannarino will face off in the coming hours for a ticket to the round of 32.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
