Winner in Halle, Zverev to Play for a Spot in the Final Against Medvedev

Zverev faced Cobolli on the center court (OWL Arena) in the quarterfinals of the Halle tournament. The two players had met once before on the tour this year, in the third round of Roland-Garros. The world No. 3 had won in three sets (6-2, 7-6, 6-1).
At the very start of the match (1-0 on Zverev’s serve), spectators witnessed a rare scene as the German sprinted to the restroom. He seemed uncomfortable and rushed off the court without any explanation. Nevertheless, the match resumed normally with an efficient Zverev (1/1 break point converted) winning the first set. The Italian, meanwhile, failed to convert any of his six break point opportunities.
The gap between the two players didn’t widen in the next set, as both held serve until the tie-break, which Zverev won 8-6. In 1 hour and 41 minutes, he secured victory with a score of 6-4, 7-6.
A finalist in Stuttgart last week, the 28-year-old player now has his sixth win in seven matches on grass this season. For a place in the final, he will face Medvedev, the first to qualify for the semifinals after his victory against Michelsen.
