Withdrawal confirmed in Athens for Tsitsipas, who will not play again in 2025
As he had announced in recent days, Stefanos Tsitsipas has officially withdrawn from the Athens tournament.
The year 2025 will not remain in Tsitsipas's memory for very long. The Greek has not particularly shone in recent months despite a title at the start of the season at the ATP 500 in Dubai, which will remain his only final of the season.
Having dropped to 26th in the world, the 27-year-old player failed to get past the second round in a Grand Slam this year and played only one quarter-final in a Masters 1000, in Monte-Carlo, the most prolific tournament since the start of his career.
In recent days, he had confirmed his intention to end his 2025 season. After his participation in the Six Kings Slam, he subsequently withdrew from the ATP 500 in Vienna and the Paris Masters 1000.
Although he was entered for the Athens tournament scheduled for next week, Tsitsipas will therefore ultimately not be present. The organization officially recorded his withdrawal in the last few hours. Laslo Djere takes advantage of this to replace him in the draw.
The list of withdrawals for the tournament in the Greek capital thus continues to grow. Before Tsitsipas, several players had also withdrawn: Jakub Mensik, Jiri Lehecka, João Fonseca, Sebastian Baez, Camilo Ugo Carabelli, Marton Fucsovics, and Roberto Bautista Agut.
