Women's tennis has evolved so much over the past fifteen years," says Fissette, Swiatek's coach, assessing the current tour
Wim Fissette has been coaching Iga Swiatek since October 2024. Though their partnership faced challenges early in the season, the Polish player rediscovered her winning form at Wimbledon.
As a guest on the latest episode of the *Tennis Insider Club* podcast, the 45-year-old coach highlighted the changes he’s observed in women’s tennis:
"Training has changed dramatically. If you go to tournaments now, every fitness room is packed. Before, the gym was tiny, and you’d hardly see anyone there. Physically speaking, just in terms of women’s tennis, it’s incredible. Fifteen years ago, if you hit a forehand into the corner, your opponent might be there with a slice or a short ball.
Now, if you play that same shot, they’re so physically strong that they’re ready to counterattack. It’s so different, and that’s why women’s tennis has evolved so much over the past fifteen years.
