Zverev Advances to Miami Round of 16

Despite a rocky start, Alexander Zverev managed to secure a straight-sets victory over Jordan Thompson (7-5, 6-4) in the third round of the Miami Masters 1000.

The German, who became the tournament’s top seed following Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal, had a challenging opening, trailing 4-1 after just fifteen minutes of play. He then raised his level, winning six of the next seven games to claim the first set.

Freed by winning the opener, Zverev controlled the remainder of the match, needing just one break early in the second set to seal the win.

This marks his first back-to-back wins since the Australian Open. In the round of 16, he will face the winner of the match between Arthur Fils and Frances Tiafoe.
