Zverev gets out of the Son trap and joins Hurkacz in the semi-finals!
Alexander Zverev is not playing his best tennis this week. However, he's doing the basics. Without shining, he seems to be adapting well to the game on grass. Enrolled at the Halle tournament, the world number 4 is not disappointing his fans so far.
Up against a very lively Arthur Fils, Zverev again needed more than 2 hours of play, but came through with flying colors (6-7, 6-3, 6-4). Despite losing the first set, he remained solid, particularly on serve. Taking advantage of his opponent's slight slumps to break when necessary, the finalist at the last French Open will now play in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Opposite him, Hubert Hurkacz will be as impressive as ever on serve. Relentlessly solid, the Pole has yet to lose a set this week, and is likely to be a serious test for the German.
Will he respond positively? The answer in less than 24 hours!
