Zverev holds off Alcaraz to take the lead

The eagerly-awaited clash does not disappoint. At least for the moment. In a match of the highest level, Alexander Zverev won the first act of his group match against Carlos Alcaraz (7-6).

Shaken by a Spaniard clearly showing his best side, the German showed impressive solidity, particularly on his serve (0 break points conceded, 82% first ball) to take the lead.

In a well-balanced tiebreak, the world number 2 proved a little more opportunistic than his opponent.

Trailing by a set, Alcaraz now has no choice. If he wants to reach the semi-finals, he'll have to win the next two sets and hope that's enough to qualify.
