Alexander Zverev attended a press conference after his victory against Vilius Gaubas in Rome. He notably discussed the playing conditions at Foro Italico with the balls.
He states: "It's very strange what's happening with the balls because they are much slower than in previous editions. I really don't know what they did to them.
We have played with Dunlop balls throughout the clay court season. I found them fast in Monte-Carlo, Munich, and Madrid, but here... They can tell me whatever they want, it's not the same.
I strung three kilos less than in the other tournaments. I don't know, they try to make us believe these are the same balls, but it's impossible."
Zverev will attempt to qualify for the quarterfinals this Tuesday against Arthur Fils.
