Zverev one set away from joining Ruud in the semi-finals!
For the moment, Alexander Zverev is doing his job. After a solid first set, he was able to withstand Alex De Minaur's spirited play and outstanding defense to take a commanding lead (6-4, 7-6 in 2h10).
Despite being inaccurate (31 unforced errors) and shaky on his serve (2 breaks conceded), he was able to hold off an Australian ready to do anything to topple him. Saving a second-set point, Zverev gave himself a real scare, but was able to keep his cool in the crucial moments.
As combative as ever, De Minaur failed to capitalize on his remarkable court coverage. Without playing his best tennis, the world number 4 is only one set away from the Roland Garros semi-finals.
