Zverev Reaches Second Week at Roland-Garros for the 8th Consecutive Time, Joining the Big 3

Facing Cobolli on Court Philippe-Chatrier, Zverev defeated the Italian in straight sets (6-2, 7-6, 6-1) after 2 hours and 29 minutes of play.
While the first and third sets were largely dominated by the world No. 3, the German still had a scare in the second set, as evidenced by his lapses in concentration and unforced errors. Despite this, Zverev logically prevailed against a player he had never faced on the tour before.
A finalist last year, the 28-year-old secured his 8th consecutive appearance in the second week of Roland-Garros and his 28th victory of the season. With this achievement, Zverev has matched a feat only the Big 3 had accomplished in the 21st century.
After reaching the final in Australia in January, Zverev had mixed results, failing to progress beyond the quarterfinals in most tournaments—except in Munich. He suffered early exits at Indian Wells and Monte-Carlo. Just before arriving in Paris, the three-time Grand Slam finalist was stunned by Muller in the second round of the Hamburg tournament.
Now through to the round of 16, he will face Dutchman Griekspoor, ranked 35th in the world, on Monday.
