This Friday, Juan Bautista Torres and Tomas Barrios Vera were competing for a spot in the semi-finals of the Lima Challenger. The two men delivered a fierce and completely indecisive battle, marked by 12 breaks and 3 tie-breaks.
After 4 hours and 24 minutes of play, it was ultimately the Chilean who prevailed with a score of 7-6, 6-7, 7-6. Vera wins the longest match in Challenger history and let his joy burst out at the end of the match.
The longest set of the match was the second one, lasting about 1 hour and 36 minutes, which, however, represents about the average duration of a standard best-of-three-sets match.
