After the incident between the two players, Moutet defeats Kotov in Aix-en-Provence
This Wednesday evening, the match between Corentin Moutet and Pavel Kotov was interrupted by nightfall while the two players were tied in the third set (5-5) during the Aix-en-Provence Challenger.
During the match, the Russian allegedly threatened the Frenchman with death after the latter approached the net during a point. Moutet, 26, then shared the incident on his X account (formerly Twitter), before deleting his post.
This Thursday afternoon, the two players returned to the court to finish the match. Moutet ultimately closed out the encounter on his serve (7-5, 3-6, 7-5) and celebrated his victory.
Following the events of the previous day, the two men did not shake hands. Moutet advances to the round of 16 and will face Reilly Opelka later on Thursday in an attempt to reach the quarterfinals.
