By defeating Tiafoe in the third round of Miami (7-6, 5-7, 6-2), Arthur Fils has just achieved another impressive feat.
At only 20 years old, the Frenchman has reached his second round of 16 this season after Indian Wells, where he triumphed over Giron (6-2, 2-6, 6-3).
As France’s top-ranked player, he has now added his name to the list of players who managed to qualify for the round of 16 in both Indian Wells and Miami in the same season before turning 21—a statistic tracked since 2000.
Among the notable players on this list are Hewitt (2001), Federer (2002), Djokovic (2007), Murray (2007), and Nadal (2007).
