ATP 250 Munich Tournament Draw: Tough Luck for the French, Auger-Aliassime, Lehecka, and Cerundolo Also Set

Next week, several players will be in Bavaria to compete in the ATP 250 tournament in Munich. Among them is Alexander Zverev, who hopes to regain his focus after a challenging few weeks following his defeat in the Australian Open final.
Eliminated early in the Masters 1000 events at Indian Wells and Monte-Carlo, the world No. 2 will play on home soil next week and has drawn Alexandre Muller for his opening match. The Frenchman, who won in Hong Kong and reached the final in Rio earlier this season, was unlucky in the draw but has shown he can perform well on clay.
The other French players in the draw didn’t fare much better. Third-seeded Ugo Humbert will face Nicolás Jarry. Humbert, who suffered a hand injury in Nîmes last week, appeared with a bandage on his right hand in Monte-Carlo, where he lost to Alexei Popyrin.
Quentin Halys, a semifinalist in Dubai, will play against Zizou Bergs, while Gaël Monfils, in strong form in 2025, faces a tough opener against Denis Shapovalov. The two Frenchmen could even meet in the second round if they win their first matches.
While all the French players are clustered in the same section of the draw, the other contenders in the Munich tournament have also been set. Second-seeded Ben Shelton will face a qualifier, with a potential matchup against Nuno Borges or Roberto Bautista Agut in the round of 16.
Several enticing matchups are also on the schedule, including Francisco Cerundolo vs. Jan-Lennard Struff, Mariano Navone vs. Félix Auger-Aliassime, and Jiří Lehečka vs. Luciano Darderi. Alejandro Tabilo, who stunned Djokovic in Monaco, will play Daniel Altmaier and could face Alexander Zverev in the next round.
Jakub Mensik, fresh off his title in Miami, is also in the draw and will take on Yannick Hanfmann for a spot in the second round in Bavaria.
