Bertolucci expects even more from Musetti: "This year he could have aimed higher".
Lorenzo Musetti had a solid year on the ATP circuit in 2024.
Currently ranked 17th in the world, the 22-year-old Italian has contested three finals on three different surfaces (Queen's, Umag, Chengdu) and won the bronze medal in singles at the Paris Olympics, beating Felix Auger-Aliassime.
He also played in his first Grand Slam semi-final at Wimbledon, where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
On Sky Sports Italia, former Italian player Paolo Bertolucci is more nuanced and expects even greater consistency from Musetti over the coming months.
"A year ago at this time, I would have signed Lorenzo Musetti for the season he had. But I also think he could have aimed even higher, that's for sure.
The solid foundations were there, but he had a few lapses and stumbles. A player at his level, who has a certain elegance, can't afford to lose some of the games he's lost.
The fact that Sinner is leading the way and is the star of the country must mean that he has less pressure on his shoulders, which would be a great advantage for him."
