Bis repetita, Alcaraz joins Medvedev in the Wimbledon semi-finals!
Like last year, one of the two Wimbledon semi-finals will pit Carlos Alcaraz against Daniil Medvedev. In the second quarter-final on Tuesday, the Spaniard defeated Tommy Paul after a thrilling battle lasting over 3 hours and 4 sets (5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2).
The American got off to the best possible start on Court n°1, winning a monumental first set of 1 hour and 12 minutes (7-5). He also broke early in the 2nd set to lead 2-0. It was from this point on that Alcaraz really raised his game and gradually turned the tables. Unstoppable, he went on to win 18 of the next 24 games.
The Spaniard is still in contention to retain his title on the grass of the All England Club. He is also in the running to complete the Roland Garros - Wimbledon double, which was last achieved by Novak Djokovic in 2021.
