Sinner defeated by Medvedev at Wimbledon!
Daniil Medvedev created the sensation of the day at Wimbledon, beating Jannik Sinner to reach the semi-finals. The Russian came from behind to defeat the world number 1 after a 4-hour, 5-set battle (6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3).
Medvedev was the more consistent of the two players on Centre Court grass, despite missing 5 games in the fourth set. He was also the more physically solid of the two. From that point of view, Sinner seemed to be in trouble early on in the match. In particular, he called in the doctor at the start of the 3rd set, suggesting he was dizzy and leaving the court. This intervention resulted in an 11-minute break.
In the 5th set, the Russian broke with authority in the 4th game and was then very solid on his service games. In the semi-finals, his second in a row at Wimbledon, he will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Tommy Paul, who are currently battling it out on Court n°1.
