Carlos Martinez, New Coach for Diana Shnaider?
Diana Shnaider has started her grass season strongly. The Russian, ranked 12th in the world, advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 at Queen’s after victories over Magdalena Frech (6-4, 6-1) and Katie Boulter (2-6, 6-3, 6-2). As she prepares to face Madison Keys for a spot in the semifinals, Shnaider is hoping for stability in her coaching setup to sustain long-term success.
Since the beginning of the year, she has already worked with Dinara Safina and Marius Copil, but neither partnership lasted. Now, Shnaider is on the hunt for a new coach—and she may have already found one. Since the start of the tournament in London, Spanish coach Carlos Martinez has been spotted in the camp of the 21-year-old Russian player.
Martinez has previously coached Svetlana Kuznetsova, Feliciano Lopez, Marc Lopez, and Daria Kasatkina in recent years. The 50-year-old is reportedly working with Shnaider after the conclusion of Roland-Garros, though neither the player nor the coach has officially confirmed the partnership yet.
