Compared to Nadal and Federer, he was almost mediocre at 19," says Mouratoglou about Djokovic's early career
Interviewed on the Bartoli Time podcast, Mouratoglou discussed Grand Slam record holder Djokovic. According to him, the Serbian displayed a much lower level than his two Big 3 peers at the start of his career:
"When you watched Djokovic's tennis when he was nineteen, at no point could you think he would become what he is today. And, if you pay close attention, he is a player who, compared to the other two, it's terrible to say, was almost mediocre. He does everything very well, but he doesn't have any strong shots.
There was nothing in his tennis that made you think he could become almost half of what he became, but mentally, his self-confidence, ambition, and attention to detail made him the greatest of all.
