Coric Edges Out Wawrinka in Thriller to Claim Aix-en-Provence Title
Borna Coric overcame both Stan Wawrinka and rainy conditions in the Aix-en-Provence final.
The match promised an exciting clash between two big names in tennis but was heavily disrupted by rain, which twice forced play to be suspended.
The first set was tightly contested and ultimately went to the Swiss in a tiebreak. Coric regrouped and managed an early break in the second set, closing it out 6-3.
In the third set, the Croat again secured an early break, only for his opponent to claw his way back. The decisive moment came in the third-set tiebreak—a dramatic finale further interrupted by rain, leading to a 20-minute delay before Coric sealed victory 7-4.
With this win, Coric returns to the Top 100, while Wawrinka will drop to 132nd in next week’s rankings.
