Davis Cup: Binaghi announces first change ahead of Bologna Final 8 in 2026
Italy has indeed been the top nation in tennis for several years. For the second consecutive year, the Squadra Azzurra has achieved the Davis Cup - BJK Cup double. In the men's competition, it was in Bologna that the Italians managed to dominate Spain in the final to win the competition for the third time in a row.
President of the Italian Tennis Federation, Angelo Binaghi savored the very good year achieved by his country's players, and has already confirmed a new development for the Final 8 of next season, which will still be in Bologna. While the Super Tennis Arena hosted the final phase last week, a new venue will welcome the eight teams still in contention in November 2026.
"We will have a magnificent arena, built just a few meters from the temporary structure that hosted the event this year. Its capacity will be slightly larger (10,500 seats), but above all, the facility will be much more functional because, unlike this year's solution, it is naturally suited for a sporting event.
Staying here in Bologna for two more years, and hopefully a few more years, will also allow us to improve our expertise, as we are working directly with the municipality of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region to organize and prepare an event of such magnitude.
This will also teach all the stakeholders working with us to approach issues in an increasingly professional manner," Binaghi assured in a recent interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
