Despite suspension, Purcell on Australian Open men's doubles entry list
Max Purcell has accepted a provisional suspension from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after receiving a vitamin infusion in excess of the dose authorized by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The Australian, who won this year's US Open alongside Jordan Thompson, is nevertheless included in the entry list for the Australian Open doubles teams revealed on Monday.
Both players are seeded No. 3 in the draw, behind the pairs Arevalo / Pavic (No. 1) and Granollers / Zeballos (No. 2).
It remains to be seen whether this is a mistake on the part of the tournament organizers or whether Purcell, despite the suspension he is currently serving, will have the opportunity to play in Melbourne in less than a month's time.
