Droguet to Play His First ATP Quarterfinal in Umag
Titouan Droguet continues his impressive run at the ATP 250 tournament in Umag. After coming through qualifying with wins against Niels McDonald (6-4, 6-3) and Vilius Gaubas (4-6, 6-3, 6-3), the 24-year-old Frenchman has confirmed his strong form since the start of his Croatian campaign. Following a first-round victory over Cristian Garin, the world No. 176 faced Vit Kopriva, ranked 79th in the ATP.
Riding the momentum of his tournament start, Droguet dominated the Czech player, securing six breaks and firing 23 winners in a straight-sets victory (6-2, 6-3). This marks his first-ever qualification for the quarterfinals of an ATP tournament, where he will face a clay-court specialist, Damir Dzumhur, for a spot in the semifinals. The Bosnian player eliminated Stan Wawrinka (6-4, 7-5) in his opening match in Umag.
