Fils entered in the Shanghai Masters 1000, nine French players directly in the main draw
Arthur Fils' season took a painful turn after Roland-Garros. Suffering from a stress fracture in his back during his second-round match against Jaume Munar in Paris, the 21-year-old Frenchman was subsequently forced to withdraw from the entire grass-court season, missing Wimbledon as a result.
Returning at the Toronto Masters 1000, he won his first-round match against Carreño Busta before falling to Lehecka. But Fils, ranked 20th in the ATP this week, was unable to build on that. Withdrawing from Cincinnati and then the US Open, the Frenchman will also not be in Tokyo in the coming weeks to defend his title.
On the other hand, Arthur Fils is indeed entered in the Shanghai Masters 1000 and is expected to take part alongside eight other French players. Indeed, Humbert, Mpetshi Perricard, Muller, Moutet, Bonzi, Monfils, Atmane, and Halys are also guaranteed a spot in the main draw.
Several other French players could join them by then. First on the waiting list, Adrian Mannarino is assured of participation as soon as the first withdrawal occurs for the tournament in the Chinese city. Arthur Cazaux (3rd on the waiting list) and Arthur Rinderknech (6th on the waiting list) are also not far off and will, for the time being, have to go through qualifying to try to compete in the main draw.
