Fils, Still Uncertain for Wimbledon, Withdraws from Grass-Court Warm-Up Tournament

Time is running out for Arthur Fils. The 20-year-old Frenchman suffered a stress fracture in his back during his second-round marathon five-set match against Jaume Munar at Roland Garros, as he himself confirmed in a press conference: his participation in Wimbledon, which begins at the very end of June, remains highly uncertain.
Forced to withdraw before his third-round match against Andrey Rublev on the Parisian clay, he is expected to be sidelined for at least four to six weeks, severely jeopardizing his chances of competing at Wimbledon, the season’s third Grand Slam tournament.
In any case, and as expected, Fils has withdrawn from the ATP 250 tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch (Bois-le-Duc), which starts next week to kick off the grass-court season.
A quarterfinalist at the London Grand Slam in 2024, Fils still doesn’t know if he’ll be able to compete this year. But one thing is certain: if he does recover in time, he will arrive at Wimbledon without any preparatory tournaments on grass.
