Gauff on the three weeks of Madrid and Rome: "I'm motivated because I don't want to sit around doing nothing"
Coco Gauff keeps going. After her final in Madrid, she has now qualified for the quarterfinals in Rome. During a press conference, she stated that she is motivated not to lose due to the length of these two Masters 1000 tournaments.
"In the U.S., we don’t like losing, but at least I can go home and spend extra days there. Here, it gives me more motivation to succeed because I don’t want to just sit around doing nothing (by losing early).
But for sure, when Roland-Garros and Wimbledon are over, you tell yourself you don’t want to take any long-haul flights for a while."
Gauff will play her doubles quarterfinal this Tuesday alongside Alexandra Eala before facing Mirra Andreeva this Wednesday for a spot in the Rome semifinals.
