Gracheva, Jeanjean, and Jacquemot Qualify for the Main Draw in Montreal
Three French players competed in the qualifying rounds of the WTA 1000 in Montreal on Saturday.
In a unique format where only one win secures a spot in the main draw, Varvara Gracheva, Léolia Jeanjean, and Elsa Jacquemot fully seized their opportunity.
Gracheva led the way with a commanding victory over Madison Inglis (6-3, 6-2), followed by Jeanjean's win against Cadence Brace (6-1, 6-3). Jacquemot had a tougher battle against Carol Zhao but prevailed after three sets (6-0, 3-6, 6-4) and 2 hours and 13 minutes of play.
A perfect run for the French players, who will soon learn their fate in the main draw.
